Sourcing
Every article ties its factual claims to recognised authorities: HSE (ACoP L8, HSG274, HSG282), NHS and NHS England (HTM 04-01), CDC, UKHSA, BSI (BS 8580-1, BS 7592, BS 8680) and the WHO. Each article ends with a Sources list linking to the originals, collected on our standards & guidance page. We do not invent statistics, prices, specifications, dates or standards. Where a figure depends on your specific system, we say so and point you back to your own risk assessment rather than quoting a number as universal.
Review and dating
Checked against current HSE L8 and HSG274 guidance. Each article carries a visible "last reviewed" date and a machine-readable published and reviewed date. We re-check articles against current guidance on a rolling basis and when a standard changes; the reviewed date is only moved when content is actually re-checked, not on every site rebuild.
Corrections
If you find an error, email hello@legionella.io with the page and what looks wrong. We correct confirmed errors promptly and update the reviewed date when we do.
Commercial relationship and independence
Legionella.io is published by REMOTE TECH LTD, which also builds the L8log compliance software. Where we reference L8log it is clearly labelled and links carry a sponsored attribution. The guidance does not change to suit the software: the controls we describe (temperature, water movement, cleanliness, records) are the recognised UK approach whether you log them on paper, in a spreadsheet, or in any product. Where the honest answer is "you do not need software for this", we say so.
What this site is not
Nothing here is legal, medical or design advice, and it does not replace a competent, site-specific risk assessment.
