Calorifier inspection and drain-off record
A record for the periodic inspection of calorifiers and hot water cylinders, including flow and return temperatures and the drain-off check for sludge and scale accumulation in the base.
Print-ready PDF with the columns laid out, or the CSV to fill in on a computer.
| Date | Calorifier ID | Flow temp °C | Return temp °C | Drain-off done? (Y/N) | Sludge/scale found | Action taken | Engineer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-06-12 | CAL-01 | 61 | 56 | Y | Minor sediment; ran clear | None required | Competent contractor |
| 2026-06-12 | CAL-02 | 58 | 49 | Y | Notable sludge in base | Flush & clean; recheck return temp | Competent contractor |
Sample rows are illustrative. Download the PDF for a clean print-ready form, or the CSV to fill in digitally.
How to use it
- Check and record calorifier flow and return temperatures - a low return can indicate stratification or a cool zone that favours growth.
- Carry out the drain-off from the base (commonly annually) and record the amount of sludge or scale found until the water runs clear.
- Log remedial actions such as cleaning, flushing or temperature adjustment and add them to your action tracker.
- Set inspection frequency from your risk assessment and HSG274 Part 2; the figures shown are illustrative only.
