Auditing water safety in a hotel
Hotels combine high-risk features (little-used guest rooms, spa pools, large hot water systems) with a reputation that one case can damage. Here is how to audit it properly.
Do this now
- 1Confirm the risk assessment covers the whole estate: guest floors, plant, spa or pool, and any cooling system.
- 2Tackle the low-use problem: a flushing regime for unoccupied rooms and a way to prove it happened.
- 3Check hot and cold temperatures across representative outlets, not just the easy ones near reception.
- 4Assess the spa pool or hot tub separately under its own regime, and the cooling tower if you have one.
- 5Pull the records together into an audit pack you can show an inspector, an insurer or a tour operator.
