You are the new Responsible Person
You have inherited the Legionella duty. Before anything else, find out what exists, what is missing, and who does what. This is the orderly way to take it over.
Do this now
- 1Find the current risk assessment and read it; if there is not one, or it is out of date, that is your first job.
- 2Locate the logbook and records, and check the routine tasks (temperatures, flushing, inspections) are actually happening.
- 3Confirm who holds each role in writing, and where the contractor relationship sits.
- 4Run the self-check to see how inspection-ready you are, then build a plan to close the gaps.
- 5Set the review triggers so the assessment is revisited when the system, its use, or the people change.
